Abstract

252,575. Frommer, R. von. Aug. 4, 1925. Breech actions, drop-down barrel.-A safety device capable of being adjusted for automatic or hand .a.ct.uation, comprises a longitudinally moving bar having one end adjustable so that in one position it engages the looking bolt or other part which is moved when the gun is opened or cocked, the bar being thus moved to the safe position, while in the other position it is out of engagement with the moving part. As shown the sliding bar 3 carrying the projection 10 adapted to engage a trigger extension 13, has a resilient forward end controlled by a lateral cam-slide 25, Fig. 3. When the forward end of the bar 3 is in the lower position shown in Fig. 1, it engages the sliding locking bolt 19 and is thus operated when the gun is unlocked. When the forward end is raised, it is not engaged by the locking bolt but is free to be operated by hand. The breech-operating lever 14 is controlled by a spring- pressed lever 29, the spring 30 of which bears on a disc extending across the slot in which the safety bar is mounted. The sliding hammer 37 is cocked by the bottom locking bolt 35.
