Abstract

330,129. Bowerman, C., Crump, R. E., and Bowerman, Ltd., C. May 29, 1929. Breech actions, drop-down barrel; safety appliances; trigger-guards.-A safety plate for locking the trigger or triggers of a sporting gun or the like, is slidably mounted on the triggerplate and has a downward projection disposed within the trigger-guard. The device is shown as applied to a double-barrelled gun. The trigger-plate 1 and trigger-box 2 have a common central slot 3 in which are mounted the triggers 4, 5 and a safety plate 7. The safety plate is disposed between the two triggers and is slotted to allow a longitudinal sliding movement over the trigger pivot pin 6. A downward extension 7<1> of the safety plate is disposed adjacent the triggers and has a forward extension which projects through a slot 11 in the trigger-guard 12. A pin 8 on the. safety plate engages with the upturned heels of the triggers and serves to lock the latter against movement. A leaf spring 10 mounted on the trigger-plate engages with a pin 9 on the safety plate and serves to hold the latter in either its locked or unlocked positions. A further safety device is in the form of an unturned tongue 14 on the safety plate which coacts with the bolt 15 when the gun is opened.
