Abstract
510,898. Automatic firearms. CESKA ZBROJOVKA AKCIOVA SPOLECNOST V. PRAZE. Feb. 14, 1938, No. 4534. Convention date, Feb. 18, 1937. [Class 119] The rear closure member 1 of the breech casing of an automatic firearm is locked in position by a transversely swinging member 7 which is coupled by a bayonet joint to the closure member and which engages a groove 11 in the fixed part of the firearm. The member 1 houses a breechblock carrier buffer spring 23 mounted on a rod 26 which passes freely through a breechblock carrier 5, but has a cross-piece 27 so that by turning the rod 26 through approximately 180 degrees, when the carrier is at the end of its stroke, the carrier is coupled to the rod 26 and can be withdrawn therewith. The rod 26 has a flat end 24 which slides in a slot 25 in the member 1. Accordingly, the member 7 may be turned to unlock the closure member 1 and withdraw it together with the breech mechanism, after which the cover 6 can be removed. If the member 7 is turned when the breech is. closed, the member 1 is removed without being accompanied by the breech-block carrier and in this case recoil springs bearing at one end against the breech-block carrier and at the other end against shoulders on pins in the member 1, are de-tensioned and may be removed. The ends of the recoil spring pins engage, one with a notch on the member 7 to prevent unintentional rotation thereof, and the other with an arcuate recess in the member 7 to prevent separation of the member 7 from the closure 1 by excess movement of the member 7. The safety catch (not shown) for the trigger is interconnected by a spindle 34, Fig. 4, with the member 7 so that unlocking rotation of the member 7 is prevented unless the gun is placed at safety by the lever 35.
