Abstract

231,050. Hansen, H. C. June 25, 1924. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Breech actions, sliding breechblock. - The trigger mechanism of automatic guns which normally fire a single shot for each pull of the trigger is provided with a lever mechanism which can be set to operate the sear automatically under the action of the breech-block. The invention is shown in Fig. 3 applied to the firing mechanism shown in Fig. 1, which comprises a hammer 10 pivoted on the pin 8 and adapted to be held cocked by a sear 12, 14 pivoted on a pin 9, a trigger 16 pivoted on the pin 9 and having a sear-actuating projection 15 at the rear and a forward arm 20 co-operating with a safety bolt 22, and a bell-crank safety lever 24, 26 co-operating with a projection on the trigger arm 20 to lock the trigger except when, in the closed position of the breech-block, the horizontal arm 24 is depressed by the breech-block. The mechanism for adapting for continuous firing comprises a lever 29, Fig. 3, pivoted on the sear pivot 9, having at the front a lateral projection which engages under the horizontal arm 24 of the bell-crank lever, and at the rear carrying a pivoted eccentric 32, Fig. 5, adapted, when raised to the position shown in Fig. 3, to engage the underside of the sear, so that, when on the closing of the breech the horizontal arm 24 of the bell-crank lever is depressed by the breech-block, the sear is actuated. The position of the eccentric 32 is determined by a transverse pin 36 frictionally mounted in the trigger so that it can be moved to project slightly on one side or the other. When it projects in one direction, it engages the eccentric when the trigger is pulled and raises it to the position for continuous firing.
