Abstract

222,455. Aktieselskabet Dansk Rekylriffel Syndikat. Sept. 24, 1923, [Convention date]. Machine guns.-Trigger mechanism for automatic guns of the kind having a spring-pressed recoil lever tending to move the barrel and breech-block forwards and a spring-pressed percussion lever or firing hammer, both the levers being turned rearwards when the barrel and breech-block recoil, comprises a trigger 7, Figs. 5 and 12, pivoted on a pin 9 and having a projection 12 adapted to engage a bent 19 on the recoil lever 3, and an automatic sear 13, Figs. 6 and 11, mounted at the side of the trigger on the same pivot 9, having a projection 15 adapted to engage a bent 23 on the percussion lever 4 and also having a laterally projecting ledge 16, Fig. 11, engaging over a forward projection 10 on the trigger. When the gun is cocked and ready for firing, both the levers are held back by the trigger and sear respectively. The action during continuous firing is as follows :-the pull of the trigger releases the recoil lever which presses the breech-block and barrel forwards; at the end of the forward movement the sear is operated by a projection 18 on the hub of the recoil lever, the percussion lever being thereby released to fire the shot; after the discharge the parts recoil and both the levers are thrown back; the percussion lever is held by the sear but, as long as the trigger is pulled, the recoil lever immediately goes forward again and the operations are repeated. When the trigger is released, the action stops with both levers held in the rear position. If the trigger is released while the recoil lever is going forwards, the projection 18 on the lever depresses the sear and the ledge 16 thereon depresses the forward arm of the trigger which therefore cannot rise until the sear is free to rise during the recoil. A rotary safety bolt 21 has a projection 22 adapted to engage under projecting lips 24, 25 on the trigger and sear respectively. The lip 25 on the sear projects beyond the lip 24 on the trigger, so that as shown in Fig. 10 the safety device can be turned to engage the sear while the trigger is still pulled. This is done in the event of a cartridge jamming and preventing the forward movement of the parts. In this case, after the jam has been rectified and the parts moved forward by the spring the breech is opened and cocked by hand, the unfired cart. ridge being ejected. Specification 4101/05, [Class 119, Small-arms], is referred to.
