Abstract

999,514. Trigger mechanisms. RHINEMETALL G.m.b.H. May 27, 1964 [June 1, 1963], No. 21974/64. Heading F3C. In a trigger device for multi-port breech mechanism of automatic firearms having a striker 3 which is alternately cocked and released by reciprocation of the breech mechanism 8, a control lever 6 is operatively connected to both the striker and the breech mechanism. The lever 6 intecepts the released striker by way of cam and slot 10, 11 so that the striker is finally released only when the breech mechanism is in its final forward closing position. The lever 6, which is pivoted at 9 on a plate 16 mounted in turn on pivot-pins 17, 18 is formed with an inclined surface 14 that co-operates with an inclined surface 15 on the breech mechanism when the latter has moved forwardly enough to clear the locking edge 13 of the lever 6 so as to permit the lever to rise. The striker 3 which is moved forwardly by spring-loaded lever 4 meanwhile has been released by the forward movement of the breech mechanism by way of release lever 7 and the cam 10 has moved from position a to b. Only if the breech mechanism is in its closing position will the lever 6 rise enough to permit the final release of the striker to fire a cartridge. Any recoil of the breech mechanism before it remains in its closing position is arrested by contact of surfaces 14, 15. The amount of recoil may be altered by suitable distribution of the masses and inclination of surfaces 14, 15 to control the rate of fire of the fire-arm.
