Abstract

681,593. Automatic firearms. DANSK INDUSTRI SYNDIKAT, COMPAGNIE MADSEN AKTIESELSKABET. Jan. 30, 1951, No. 2307/51. Class 119 A safety device for automatic pistols comprises a pawl which is spring-pressed into engagement with a notch in the breech-block to hold the latter in a retracted position but which is prevented from functioning by devices actuated by the gunner's normal grip when firing. In Fig. 1, the pawl 24 is urged by spring 25 to engage the notch 14 in the breech-block 6, and is held in the non-operative position by a lever 27 which is disposed so near the magazine holder 4 that it will be rocked to depress the pawl when gripped by the gunner. A further safety device 18 is provided near the trigger sear 12; this device can be moved below a lateral web of the sear in which position it prevents firing or to the firing position shown. In Fig. 4, a pawl 44 is normally urged by a spring 45 to engage the notch 32 in the breech-block 31, but the gunner's pull on the trigger 35 allows a lug 48 on a rod 46 to move into a notch 49 of the pawl and keep the pawl in its non-operative position. A hand operated safety device 50 can be rotated to lock the trigger or to release it as required.
