Abstract

394,567. Automatic firearms. HANSEN, H. C., 6, Geislersgade, Copenhagen. Nov. 14, 1932, No. 32212. [Class 119.] An automatic firearm is adapted to be set for continuous or single-shot firing by the provision of a transverse spindle 10, Figs. 2, 4 and 6, which is journalled in the trigger plate 1 and carries tripping mechanism 5, 6 for the breechblock sear 4, the spindle being axially movable with the parts 5, 6 to either of two positions. In one position of the spindle the arm 6 of the tripping mechanism is positioned so as to be struck by the recoiling breech-block 14, thereby enabling the sear to re-engage with a bent 13 therein, and in the second position the arm is moved out of the path of the breech-block and holds the sear in its depressed position to permit continuous firing as long as the trigger 2 is pressed. In the form shown, the sear 4, lever 5, a sear 7 for the tumbler 8, and a rocker 9 are all carried by the pin 10. The lever 6 is pivoted to one arm of the lever 5 and is connected by a spring 20 to a second arm ; a third arm of the lever 5 engages in a notch 19 of the sliding trigger 2. When the trigger is pulled a shoulder 23 on the lever 6 rocks the sear against the action of a spring 12. On recoil, and for single-shot firing, a wall 16 of the breech-block strikes a head 25 on the lever 6 thereby releasing the shoulder 23 from the sear and allowing the latter to re-engage with the breech-block. The shoulder is subsequently returned into engagement with the sear by the spring 20. For continuous firing the spindle 10 and lever 5 are moved laterally against the action of a spring 22 by a spring-controlled sliding pin 40 an inclined face 39 of which bears against a bevelled end of the spindle 10. In this position, the head 25 of the lever 6 is out of the path of the wall 16 and the shoulder 23. holds the sear in the depressed position until the trigger is released. The tumbler sear 7 and rocker 9 are controlled respectively by springs 27, 32, the rocker being formed with an upstanding arm which is normally pressed into engagement with a groove 33 in the other wall 17 of the breech-block. On firing, a cam surface 34 at the end of the groove depresses the rocker and a lug 35 thereon depresses the sear 7 to release the tumbler which strikes the firing pin 45. A rotatable safety device 30 is formed with a lug 29 for engaging a nose 28 on the sear 7, and with a surface 31 which is adapted to project into the path of the sear 4. The lever 5 and sear 4 are prevented from being inwardly displaced by a lug 18 formed on the trigger.
