Abstract
723,138. Automatic firearms. GEVARM. March 17, 1952 [April 17, 1951], No. 6886/52. Class 119. The sear 15 for holding the breech-block 3 in the cocked position has an elongated slot for engaging a pin 16, so that it rocks about and slides on the pin, the rocking movement being limited by means such as a pin 17 engaging a further slot in the sear. The sear is urged towards the breech-block by a spring 20 and has a projection 15<SP>1</SP> for engaging a projection 133 on the trigger 13. In use, operation of the trigger first causes the sear to slide away from the breech-block and subsequently to rock until the projections disengage, the spring then serving to return the sear to engage the breechblock when the latter returns to its cocked position. The breech-block shown has a cylindrical extension 32 of small diameter sliding in a box 21 of the breech casing 2 and serving to strike the base of a cartridge in the breech chamber 1<SP>1</SP>. The sear and trigger are mounted in a carrier 10 which is secured by a screw 11 to the breech casing and which is fitted with a pivoted catch 9 serving to hold in place a box magazine 8. The trigger on being pulled rocks about an adjustable screw 22 when this encounters the lower face of the casing 2, such rocking being permitted by a slot in the trigger engaging the pivot pin. The pin 17 shown may be rotated from the position shown, in which position the sear may slide and rock as above described for single shot firing, to a position in which it engages the side walls of the slot and thus permits sliding only. The trigger in this case does not slip off the sear and firing is continuous. The spent cartridge cases are ejected through a flared opening 25 by the force of the gases developed on firing.
