Abstract

227,630. Frommer, R. von. Jan. 21, 1924. Breech actions, sliding breech-block; sliding barrel and breech-block.-Automatic guns of the kind having a grip safety device are provided with means for locking the safety device, during the opening and closing of the breech, to prevent movement of the safety device due to the rebound from actuating the firing-mechanism. As shown, the grip lever 32 has a shoulder 34 adapted, before the lever is pressed in, to engage a nose 35 on the sear-operating link 1. When the gun has been fired, the projection 34 is in front of the nose 35, as shown in Fig. 1, and rearward movement of the lever 32 would actuate the link 1. To prevent this, the lever is looked in the forward position by the interrupter 29 which is pressed down by the breech-block so that a projection 30 engages a projection 33 on the lever, as shown in Fig. 6. When the breech is locked, the interrupter rises into a notch 28 in the breech-block. The interrupter may also be adapted to lock a part of the firing mechanism. The hammer 13, sear 8, and link 1 are controlled by separate springs 16, 10, and 2, Fig. 5, respectively, all mounted in recesses in a single case 3 fixed to the breech frame. The link 19, which transmits spring pressure to the hammer, has a forked end, the front arm 21 limiting the movement of the hammer when the breechblock is removed.
