Abstract

437,978. Automatic guns. STECKE, E., 37, Ul. Wilcza, Warsaw, and PANSTWOWE WYTWORNIE UZBROJENIA W WARSZAWIE, Warsaw. July 9, 1934, No. 20112. Convention date, July 8, 1933. [Classes 92 (ii) and 119] Relates to automatic guns in which a short rearward movement of the breech block I caused by recoil of the cartridge case imparts kinetic energy to a member 3 slidable in the block to first unlock it and then by impact move it rearwards to withdraw the cartridge case. According to the invention, energy is imparted to the member 3 by levers 2 which are rockably and slidably mounted in the breech block and which engage inclined recesses 8 in the gun casing to lock the block on firing. Further, the short rearward movement of the breech block on discharge causes the levers 2 to rock and impart a kick to the member 3 which at the end of its sliding movement in the block releases the levers 2 and strikes against a pair of levers 5 which forcibly open the breech by bearing against projections 6 on the gun casing. In the gun shown, the member 3 constitutes the firing pin and the levers 2 bearing thereon can only slide inwardly for unlocking under the action of the inclines 8 when the member is about to engage the levers 5. A single spring 4 serves for breech closing and firing.
