Abstract

465,812. Automatic guns. ECHEVERRIA, B. Aug. 7, 1935, No. 22346. Void. Convention date, Sept. 19, 1934. [Classes 92 (ii) and 119] Fixed - barrel automatic guns in which the opening of the breech by blow-back action is delayed intil the pressure has fallen in the barrel are provided with a locking - block 13 sliding vertically in the breech - block 7 and having lower inclines j for engagement with inclines k on the hammer 11 and upper inclines engaging inclines in recesses g, h in the guncasing. The hammer 11 preferably engages a sleeve member 12 slidable in the breech block and the locking- block then has lower inclines m engaging the sleeve 12 and lower inclines engaging the hammer 11 all as shown by the detached parts of Fig. 2. On firing, and after the pressure in the barrel has fallen, the locking-block slides downwardly and retracts the hammer 11 from the firing-pin 9. The breech-block then moves to open position against a return spring 8 and is retained by a pivoted sear 21. On pulling the trigger 18, the breech block moves forward to load a cartridge from the magazine 6 and a projection n on the sleeve 12 engages the casing to initiate the lifting of the locking-block. This lifting is completed by the inclines on the hammer which after locking strikes the firing pin. The speed of firing may be controlled by spring-controlled weighted disc 25 oscillated by the engagement of a tooth thereon with the breech block and engaging the sear at timed intervals. The breech block is held in open position when the magazine is empty by the action of a lever 28 pivoted at 29, one end of the lever engaging the magazine platform and the other acting to raise the sear. The magazine is retained by a pivoted latch 15.
