Abstract

524,641. Automatic guns, SOC. ANON. NAZIONALE COGNE. Feb. 2. 1939, No. 3527. Convention date, Feb. 5, 1938. [Class 92 (ii)] The breech mechanism described in Specification 507,875 is modified in that one of the breechbolt elements 26 is of predominating dimensions and constitutes the breech closing member 27 and also the member 31 for receiving the thrust of the return spring 3, whilst the other element of the breech-bolt consists of a slide 32 mounted on the member 26, and having extensions 33 to control the locking members 9. The slide 32 carries the firing pin 14 which is normally held in advanced position by the spring 15. When the gun is fired, a gas-operated rod 21 actuates the slide 32 by its extension 18 thereby releasing the locking devices by movement of the slide along the element 26. The whole breech bolt then retires as a unit and may be caught by a sear 19.
