Abstract

496,933. Automatic pistols. CESKOSLOVENSKA ZBROJOVKA AKCIOVA SPOLECNOST BRNO. Aug. 19, 1938, No. 24496. Convention date, Aug. 19, 1937. [Class 19] An automatic pistol has a breech-block 3 having at its rear end bevelled surfaces 31, 4, the upper one of which seats on a corresponding surface 2<1> on the breech casing 2, whilst the lower one engages a bevelled surface 6 on a slide 5 which carries a firing-pin 7 and receives the thrust of the return spring 10. The firing- pin passes through a tapered slot in the breech block. A notch 9 is provided on the breechblock to co-operate with the gear 11 of the firing mechanism. On pulling the trigger, the slide 5 and breech-block are urged forwards until the breech-block reaches the closed position, at which point the reaction between the surfaces 4, 6 rocks the rear end of the breechblock into locking contact with the surface 21, this movement allowing the slide 5 and striker 7 to advance sufficiently to fire the cartridge which has been previously thrust into the breech from the magazine 14 by the advancing breech-block.
