Abstract
498,424. Automatic firearms. JANECEK, F., and JANECEK, F. K. Dec. 14, 1937, No. 34609. Convention date, Dec. 14, 1936. [Class 119] An automatic firearm having a fixed barrel 1 and a breech-block 4 which is held closed by the inertia of a mass 6 pressed by a recoil spring 8, has an actuator 5 which bears against a fixed stop 7 and against the breech-block 4, the actuator being pivoted in the mass 6 so that motion of the breech-block, after firing, results in a multiplied motion of the mass 6. The mass 6 and the breech-block maintain the same relative position while moving along the receiver 3 owing to the inclined actuator 5 bearing against the lower surface of the receiver. The contacting surfaces of the actuator, stop 7 and breech-block are shaped so that the actuator engages similarly to the tooth of a spur wheel. The firing pin 10 is held in retracted position by a spring 11 and may be struck automatically by a part of the breech-block, or by a hammer 12 which works through an aperture in the actuator and is swung clear by the recoiling breechblock and held by a pawl. The receiver may be of rectangular section.
