Abstract

Liquid-fuel fittings.-The hollow front of an oil-fired furnace is fitted with an air deflector comprising, as shown in Fig. 2, an inwardlydirected ring 5 seated in the flame opening of the inner plate 1 and continued, integrally or otherwise, in the form of a hollow cone extending adjacent to the outer plate 7 and having air ports 19 which may be semi-spiral in shape. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, suitable for alteration to coal firing, the combined deflector 27 and hollow core 29 is secured in an opening formed in two pairs of plates bolted to the inner or back plate 24 each pair being bolted together by means of central vertical flanges. The upper enclosing or "shield" wall of the hollow port and the "flare" 51 are each made in halves, one bolted to the inner plate 24 and the other to the outer plate 54. The brickwork is formed with a central Venturi opening 65. In both modifications the usual openings, with access doors, are provided in the outer plate, and the oil-pipe sleeve is fitted . with the burner deflector 12 or 61 having air ports and vanes.
