Abstract

411,225. Signal &c. lamps. WHILLOCK, S. A., 1A, Bowes Road, Palmers Green, and LAMP MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., 10, Leonard Street, City Road, both in London. Feb. 8, 1933, No. 3838. [Class 75 (iv).] In a signal or other long-burning oil lamp in which the lamp casing is provided with passages having one or more air inlets at the top and one or more exits at or near the burner whereby the combustion air is preheated, the top, sides, and base of the lamp casing are formed with double walls 6, 9, the outer top wall being provided with a chimney cone 12 and the lower top wall 10 with another chimney cone 13 concentric with and smaller than the cone 12, the inner base wall 11 being provided with an aperture 16 for the passage there through of the top of the burner 1, and said aperture being surmounted by a cone 17 having a flame passage 18. The cone 12 is provided with air inlet holes 14 and a depending skirt 15, the wall 11 is formed with holes 19 to admit the heated air into the combustion chamber, and secondary air enters through holes 20 in the outer wall 6 and also is preheated. The oil chamber 2 has apertures 4 whereby it is fed with oil from the outer chamber 3.
