Abstract

174,699. Reid, J. Oct. 25, 1920. Liquid-fuel furnaces.- In an oil-fired furnace in which the burner may be supplied with air under forced or natural draught, the opening in the back plate 98 of the furnace front is provided with a double cone 88 which may be provided with vanes 85 on its outer surface and the opening in the front plate 92 is provided with a chamber 89 for the admission of air under natural draught. An outer plate 91 and an inner plate 97 each adapted to slide on the burner sleeve 87 control the admission of air from the atmosphere and the forced draught from the space enclosed between the plates 92, 98 respectively. The deflector 100 may be operated by the rods 99 which serve to operate the plate 97.
