Abstract

291,180. Hepburn, R. H. March 22, 1927. Air supply for combustion; steam supply for increasing combustion; ash-pans.-Air or steam under pressure is supplied by a fan, blower, &c., to a chamber disposed across, and integral with, the front of an open domestic grate or of the ashpan used with it, the air or steam passing to the fire through apertures in the rear wall of the chamber. In the construction shown a pair of chambers 1, 2 are formed on the front of the grate; the air or steam is supplied from a pipe 6 and passes into the front of the fuel from apertures 7 in the rear wall of the chamber 1, and to the space beneath the grate through similar apertures from the chamber 2.
