Abstract
477,044. Water boilers. HALL BOILERS, Ltd., and HALL, W. June 20, 1936, No. 17221. [Class 64 (i)] In a hot-water or low - pressure steam boiler comprising a set of tubes 9 extending across the boiler space directly above the grate 4 to which fuel is fed by gravity from a hopper 1, the hopper outlet is arranged in an upright side of the combustion chamber parallel with the longitudinal axes of the tubes, and the outlet from the chamber to the flue is in a chamber wall opposite to that containing the hopper outlet. Communicating water walls 2, 5, 8, 12 are provided, and the wall 5 is extended upwards or carries a baffle 11 directing the flue gas up over the tubes and then down to a flue outlet 7. Forced draught may be supplied through an air duct 16, and the fuel outlet from the hopper may be regulated by a baffle adjusted by a rack and pinion. Two boilers with connected water spaces may be combined back to back with omission of the walls 12.
