Abstract

273,632. Tutty, A. E. May 14, 1927. Grates; air supply for combustion.-In grates having air-openings 6 in the rear wall below the fire-bars, in communication with air-ducts 3, the air is supplied to these ducts through one or more openings 15 in the top or upper part of the front member 14 of the grate. The well fire shown comprises rear and side air ducts 2, 3 below the level of the grate, which is supported on a metal cradle 5 having air-openings 6 in the upper part of the rear wall communicating with the duct 2. Between the front of the cradle 5 and a metal front member 11, 12 is formed a transverse air chamber 10, the ends of which communicate with the ducts 3, and to which air is supplied through vertical openings 15 in a firebrick or other front member 14. The firebrick 14 rests on the cradle 5 and front member 11, 12, and is retained by a frame 13 carried by the latter. Specification 213,176 is referred to.
