Abstract
467,695. Boiler furnaces. McKEAN, J. G., and JONES, R. F. April 17, 1936, No. 11014. [Class 51 (i)] In a sectional boiler of the kind in which the firebars of the furnace are formed integral with the hollow boiler sections, the firepot of a screw-feed mechanical stoker is supported on the fire bars adjacent the furnace front. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, a rectangular frame 1, 1<1>, 1<2>, 2 is supported by the fire bars 3 and the firepot 9 is arranged within the frame and spaced therefrom, fuel being fed to the firepot through the conduit 11. Inverted U-shape firebar sections 13 are supported upon the frame 1, 2 and the walls of the firepot, the firebars at the sides of the firepot having passages 14 for air while those at the corners are imperforate. The firebars 3 at the sides and back of the firepot are covered by firebrick 6, 7. Air for combustion is supplied to the front part of the space beneath the fire bars 3 closed at the back by a wall 8.
