[Class 51 (i)] A sectional boiler furnace comprises a combustion chamber in the form of a shaft fed with fuel from a hopper 7 and provided with lateral grates 5 and a horizontal grate 2. Air for combustion is supplied to the vertical grates through passages 9 which are separate from the air supply chamber 15 beneath the horizontal grate 2.
