Abstract

516,071. Furnace. grates. THOMPSON (TRIUMPH STOKER), Ltd., J., and PEARSALL, H. E. June 20, 1938, No. 18238. [Class 51 (i)] In furnaces in which the grate is formed of firebars supported in two or more movable or stationary troughs supplied with forced draught, air is supplied independently to each trough from a source of uniform pressure.. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2 each trough 1 comprises firebars 3 which are of increasing depth towards the rear. Air from a fan passes to a main 10 and thence through a conduit 8 divided into separate passages 7 each leading to one of the troughs 1. The supply to each trough may be controlled by a valve and the valves for the troughs may be actuated simultaneously.
