515,920. Mechanical stokers. SHOOK, T. W. July 6, 1938, No. 19980. [Class 78 (i)] A mechanical stoker is waterjacketted at b to surround the exit c from the hopper and also the delivery mechanism, illustrated as a reciprocating ram. Air for combustion in the furnace enters the jacket at f and leaves at g before passing to the space h under the grate. During its passage it carries away steam formed in the jacket, the delivery of which under the grate is stated to prevent the formation of clinker.
