478,007. Solid-fuel stoves. DAVISON, July 24, 1936, No. 20576. [Class 126] Solid fuel discharged from a hopper 1 on to a deadplate 2 travels along an inclined grate 3 to a substantially horizontal active grate 4 through which alone combustion air is admitted. Air may be prevented from reaching the grate 3 by an ashpit wall 9, or the grate 3 may be solid. The inclination of the grate 3 is such that the thickness of the fuel remains uniform and the rate of delivery is regulated by a slide 5 so as to allow the fuel to be brought nearly to its ignition temperature before reaching the grate 4. Means may be provided for admitting additional air above the grate at starting. A refractory wall 13 prevents the flames from impinging directly on the oven 14.
