Abstract
398,391. Gaseous, liquid, and powdered fuel furnaces. LUCAS, E. E., Mount Works, Wharton Street, Nechells, Birmingham. Jan. 26, 1933, No. 2548. [Class 51 (i).] In an annealing or other furnace having a treating chamber 1 located above the combustion zone, and in which the products of combustion are carried from the rear to the front through the chamber 1 and thence downwardly through the downtake flue 9 to a flue 10, the liquid, gaseous, or powdered fuel burner is located in an air chamber 13 sealed internallv from but fitted directly in the flue 9. The chamber 13 and burner 9 are directed into a nozzle 4 in the refractory brick 3. The chamber 13 is formed with ribs or flanges 16, and may be supplied with air from a preheater 11 through the pipe 12. The door 15 is slotted to allow it to slide over the pipe 12.
