Abstract

171,913. Lockwood, A. C. Dec. 15, 1920. Crematory furnaces.-In a gas or liquid-fuel fired furnace of the kind described in Specification 110,058, the coffin is supported on two longitudinal bars E of refractory material above the ash-pit B, into which the flame of the burner or burners D is delivered and to which heated air is supplied at K through ducts running along the sides or roof of the furnace. The escape flue C runs under or on one or both sides of the ash-pit. The surface of the bed of the furnace at the sides of the ash-pit is slightly lower than that at the front and back.
