Metal - heating fur naces; reverberatory furnaces.-A gas or oil fired furnace, heated by a burner or burners delivering through an opening e at one end, has an internal sloping roof d, the lower end of which is equidistantly spaced from the floor and the rear wall, the space left being just sufficient to allow the passage of the combustion products. The heating-gases pass over the roof d to an outlet k at the burner end of the furnace. Materials to be heated are inserted through openings h, h<1>, and small apertures i may be provided for rods and tubes. Specification 16053/86 is referred to.
