Abstract

207,966. Gehnrich, C. L. Nov. 1, 1922. Ovens.-Relates to ovens for drying materials giving off combustible vapours, and of the kind in which the heating is effected by radiator tubes within the oven, and comprises means for supplying hot air to the oven, and a construction which allows the heating elements to be removed bodilv. The oven is of rectangular form, and along either side is a heating-element consisting of a lower combustion chamber 10, an upper flue box 15 and connecting-tubes 16, both the combustion chamber and the flue box being spaced from the containing walls of the oven to allow free circulation of air around them. The combustion chamber contains a burner tube 11 and a baffle plate 14, and at its lower part are conduits 25, 22, open at one end to the atmosphere, for supplying hot air to the flames, and to the oven chamber respectively, the latter supply being delivered in different directions into the oven chamber through the openings 24 and the tubes 27. Within the flue box 15 is an air heating conduit 20 connected with the atmosphere through a pipe 19 and with the oven chamber through the nozzles 21. Each flue box communicates with the chimney through a pipe 17, disconnection of which allows the heater element to be removed bodily.
