Abstract
348,430. Air-heating furnaces. ROUCKA, E., Blansko, Czecho-Slovakia. June 16, 1930, No. 18364. Convention date, June 17, 1929. [Class 51 (ii).] Fuel is fed from a hopper 3 on to a travelling grate 1 and burns beneath a sloping arch 4 the gases passing forwardly to a secondary combustion chamber 5 widened horizontally at the rear end 6 as shown in plan in Fig. 1, so that the gases turn through 180 and enter an air heater 7 of the plate type. Cast-iron or fireclay tubes 8 are arranged in the path of the gases before they enter the heater and are supplied with air to be heated by a fan 9 which also supplies the heater 7. The air to be heated may be passed through hollow walls 10 of the furnace which are lined with refractory material. The hollow walls may be adapted to heat water or generate steam. An air heater 7 may be disposed on both sides of the firebox, the secondary combustion chamber 5 being widened on both sides at its rear end. The refractory tubes 8 may be in series or in shunt with the plate heater 7. Secondary air for combustion is admitted below the arch 4.
