[Class 51 (ii)] A glass melting furnace comprises a primary heating section a to which the glass is introduced and heated by gases from the refining section b which communicates by means of a throat c in a bridge wall d with a working section e. Fuel and air are delivered to the refining section through ports j and the gases take a hair-pin course to the primary heating section a and escape through ports m to recuperators h for heating air for combustion of gas supplied from a product (not shown).
