[Class 51 (i)] The gas and air supply ports of a regenerative furnace, more particularly for burning unheated gas with preheated air, comprises a main central air duct c, a gas duct b which leads from below into the duct c at an angle of 90‹ or less and lateral ducts e adapted to deliver air into the gas and air mixture leaving the duct c. The air is preheated in a regenerator which may be divided by a vertical wall f into chambers g and h serving to heat the air supply to the main duct c and to the lateral ducts e respectively. The chambers are connected to a common duct l by inlet and discharge openings i, k controlled by valves n, o.
