Abstract

511,573. Tilting crucible furnaces. HALL, I. Feb. 18, 1938, No. 5112. Drawings to Specification. [Class 51 (ii)] A tilting crucible furnace has an air preheater in the upper part of the furnace with inlet and outlet pipes leading respectively from and to a fixed air main and a fixed burner, the pipes having detachable connections for allowing the furnace to be tilted. The apparatus described is the same as that of Specification 511,572. The air may be further preheated by admixture with the waste gases, or by passing the air pipes through jackets for the circulation of waste gases.
