457,024. Tunnel furnaces. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.-GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. July 17, 1936, No. 19917. Convention date, July 22, 1935. [Class 51 (ii)] An electrically-heated tunnel furnace 1, Fig. 1, of known form having transverse baffles 5, 6 projecting into the tunnel from the floor and' roof to prevent undesired gas currents in both the heated and unheated zones, is modified by making the baffles of curved form, as shown at 7, Fig. 2, this construction ensuring that the impinging gas currents are deflected and resolved into local eddies. The corresponding floor and roof baffles are curved in opposite directions as are also those of the same series in the heated and unheated zones respectively of the furnace.
