Abstract

417,657. Electric resistance furnace. JUNKER, O., Lammersdorf, Monschau, Germany. April 4, 1933, No. 10040. Convention date, April 4, 1932. [Class 39 (iii).] In a furnace for heat-treatment of metal strip, the heating elements are arranged for heating uniformly the whole width of the strip during the greater part of its travel and for heating the middle region only during the remainder of its travel. The whole of the elements may be controlled by a single switch. Alternatively the elements are arranged in independently controlled groups across the width of the furnace. The furnace 1 comprises a uniformly heated chamber 2 of elliptic crosssection and a chamber 3 of rectangular crosssection with heating elements arranged in the centre of the roof and bottom.
