513,133. Gas-fired furnaces &c. PRIEST, C. F. April 1. 1938, No. 10023. [Classes 51 (i) and 51 (ii)] In a gas-fired shaft furnace or kiln the burners are arranged in two or more series, the burners of one series alternating with those of the other one or more series. As shown in Fig. 2, gas from the main i enters a reversing valve f by which it is supplied alternately to pipes g, h leading to pipe belts d, e and to the two series of burners a, b. The branch pipes k, m may be provided with valves.
