Abstract

470,694. Ore - roasting furnaces. SPIRLET, X. DE. March 10, 1937, No. 7078. [Class 51 (ii)] In a superposed hearth roasting-furnace comprising alternate fixed and rotating annular hearths 1a, 2a, the axial cooling-cylinder forming the inner wall of the furnace has a metal section 10 opposite the middle hearths, and between upper and lower refractory sections 8, 6. The section 10 is preferably in the form of an annular casing, to the upper end of which the roasting-air is supplied by a pipe 13, the air flowing downwards along a helical course and emerging at the lower end for subsequent delivery to the lowermost hearth. Part of the air may be supplied to the furnace through adjustable openings in the wall of the cooling- cylinder.
