Abstract

Regenerators.-A recuperator of the isolated waste-gas and air passage type is arranged so that by reversing a four-way cock, the air and combustible gas may pass through the passages which have conveyed the waste-gas and vice versa. In Fig. 1, d shows such a recuperator, one set of flues of which communicates with one flue f and the other with the other flue f. These flues, f, f, communicate through a four-way cock g, Fig. 2 with the stack flue h and the air-inlet i. The recuperator as described above may work in conjunction with regenerators c, c, Fig. 1, of the checkered brickwork type. Gas is led to the working hearth a from the producer by passages l, l<1> and admission ports a<1>, Fig. 2.
