Abstract

Coke ovens.-In a coke oven having regenerator chambers arranged longitudinally beneath the ovens and extending substantially the full width of the bench air inlets o are provided at the ends of the chambers, and the waste gases are exhausted into two flues m. The ports n leading to the flues m are preferably adjacent the ports o so that a single controlling-damper p can be used for each pair. When a lean gas such as producer or blast furnace gas is used for combustion, a pair of regenerator chambers is provided beneath each oven, one for air and the other for gas. The regenerator chambers are connected to the heating-walls on both sides of the oven beneath which they are situated, and the flues of the heating- walls are connected together in pairs.
