Abstract
282,841. Beeston, W. G. Jan. 14, 1927. Regenerators.-In a regenerative furnace of the type having a unidirectional flame, in which the air blast and waste gases pass alternately with. out reversal of direction through a pair of regenerator chambers d, e disposed beneath the furnace chamber a, the regenerator chambers are connected at both ends to a pair of valve, chambers f, w, flues k, o lead from each end of the furnace chamber to the valve chambers, an air blast conduit i leads into the valve chamber f and a stack flue n leads from the other valve chamber m, the valves g, r in the valve chambers. being simultaneously reversible. With the valves iu the position shown, air from the conduit i passes through the regenerator chamber e to the flue o which opens into the furnace chamber in the vicinity of a gas port p, while the waste, products of combustion pass through the flue k and are directed by the valve g into the other regenerator chamber d and thence bv the valve r into the stack flue n. On reversal, air passes. through the chamber d and waste gases through the chamber e. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 11402/85, [Class 72, Iron &c.].
