Abstract
298,285. Simon-Carves, Ltd., and Brown, J. H. July 14, 1927. Coke ovens.-In a coke oven having transverse regenerators and vertical flues opening at their upper ends into horizontal distributing channels, each gas burner or small group of burners is supplied with air through a valve controlled pipe communicating directly with the atmosphere. In the construction shown for an oven having a regenerator chamber 1 associated with each heating-flue, the air inlet to each regenerator chamber consists of a pipe 5 extending downwards through the roof of the arch beneath the regenerators and fitted with a control valve 7. The air inlet pipe passes through and is separate and distinct from the waste gas outlet flue. The valves 7 for two associated groups of air inlets are connected by chains 8 to an operating-rod 9 in such manner that, when the valves 7<b> of one group are opened, the valves 7a of the complementary group are allowed to close, and vice versa. The air valves are preferably actuated by the gas reversing mechanism. Specification 175,312 is referred to.
