573,881. Air-heating furnaces. AKT.-GES. FUR TECHNISCHE STUDIEN. Dec. 22, 1943, No. 21478. Convention date, Dec. 31, 1942. [Class 64 (i)] [Also in Group XII] In a pulverised-fuel air-heating furnace, the air to be heated is supplied at 22, part passing through tubes 10, arranged around the walls of the combustion chamber B in the same direction as the hot gases and part through tubes 20 in countercurrent to the gases passing down the flue 21. The upper parts of the tubes 10 are directly exposed while the lower portions are covered with refractory material 4 having sloping upper surfaces 17.
