Abstract

778,910. Kiln furnaces. MOLETON FOUNDRY CO., Ltd. Aug. 17, 1955 [Aug. 30, 1954], No. 25119/54. Class 51 (1). The kiln shown comprises a brick-built boxlike furnace 10 which is one of ten or other number of similar furnaces of the kiln which is circular, such furnaces being spaced uniformly around a central main chamber and supplying their hot gaseous combustion products to heating passages common to all. Each furnace comprises a grate 22 which, with a transverse grate support 21, divides it into a fire-box and an ashpit 26. An ashpit door 14 has a shuttercontrolled primary air inlet 15 whilst a fuelcharging door 13 has a hit-and-miss type damper 18, 19, for secondary air. The grate 22, which is formed as a complete detachable unit is, preferably, as in Specification 778,911. The furnace roof has an arch 27 and a flue outlet 28 leading to the kiln heating passages. The furnaces may be applied to a kiln of straight-sided form having the furnaces spaced apart along its sides.
