Abstract

771,632. Tunnel kilns. WISTRA OFENBAU-GES. March 15, 1955 [March 16, 1954], No. 7578/55. Class 51 (2). A continuous pottery kiln through which the wave is traversed on kiln cars, is heated in a reduction firing zone by gas burners 3 disposed in the side walls at about the level of the kiln car platforms and arranged alternately with damper controlled offtakes 4 leading to a flue 5 through which the gases pass to thinwalled heating flues 7 in the preheating section of the kiln. Ports 15 allow the addition of sufficient air to complete combustion of the waste gases in the flues 7 and additional burners may be installed if necessary. A fan 11 extracts the tunnel atmosphere through ports 13 and ducts 12 into which extend ducts 11 leading from the flues 7.
