Abstract
485,839. Preheating furnace charges. POLYSIUS AKT.-GES., G. Nov. 11, 1937, No. 30962. Convention date, Dec. 9, 1936. [Class 51 (ii)] In the preheating of granular materials on a gas permeable conveyer by furnace gases from the main heating process, part of the gases are drawn through the material on one part of the conveyer, while the remainder are used for heating air which is drawn through the material on another part. As shown, the space above the preheating-conveyer 1 is divided by a baffle 4 and the gases from the rotary furnace 2 pass in part down through the material on the conveyer from the space 5, and in part over the tubes of an air heater 7, through which air passes to the space 6 and thence downwards to the exhaust flue beneath the conveyer. A single exhaust fan may be used by connecting the flue 8 to the space beneath the conveyer.
