Abstract
495,434. Refuse-consuming furnaces. SCHWEIZERISCHE LOKOMOTIV- & MASCHINENFABRIK. May 7, 1937, No. 13057. Convention date, May 8, 1936. [Class 51 (i)] In a refuse-consuming furnace in which the gases from the combustion chamber bare utilized first in a heat-exchanger, such as a steam-generator d, and then in an apparatus h for drying the moist refuse, the heat-exchanger is arranged immediately above the combustion chamber so that its flues f are in direct communication therewith. The gases from the heatexchanger pass to the drier h, which may be a fixed or rotary drum, through flues g, g<1>, controlled by a damper k<1>, while a direct discharge to the atmosphere is provided by a flue g2 fitted with a damper k<2>. To permit the supply of hot gases direct from the combustion chamber to the drier, a byepass flue l, controlled by a damper l<1>, may be provided.
