Abstract

139,499. Lange, K. Dec. 24, 1918, [Convention date]. Rivet-heating furnaces.-A furnace is divided into a number of chambers heated by a single burner. The furnace shown is of circular form, as seen in plan, and is divided into chambers by refractory radially-arranged partitions d tapering down to a central block c on to which the burner i delivers. Gas and compressed air are supplied to the burner through the pipes f and g respectively, and a nozzle h is fitted in the supply pipe to prevent the air from forcing back the gas. To prevent emission of flames through the doorways k compressed air is delivered in front of them through a circular pipe l. Passages m are fitted above the doorways through which scale &c. is blown by the compressed air.
