Abstract
498,292. Liquid-fuel furnaces and burners. HUWYLER, E. June 4, 1937, No. 15513. [Class 51 (i)] [Also in Group XI] In a liquid-fuel furnace fuel from a burner 2 enters a conical recess 41 in a hollow body 3 where atomization takes place before passing to an ignition zone where it is supplied with air through passages 7 formed between the body 3 and an ignition head 6. Further air is supplied to effect complete combustion through annular passages 10, 11, discharging in a conical surface in which are also located the inner conical surface of the ignition head 6 and the conical surface 15 of a refractory ring 13. Atmospheric or compressed air is supplied to the burner from a chamber 16 under the control of a member 17 operated by a screw 19. Blades 18 on the regulating member impart a twist to the air stream. Air may enter the chamber 16 from the atmosphere through an annular opening controlled by a plate 22.
