Abstract
838,331. Spray oil burners for furnaces. BENZ Ltd. July 13, 1956 [July 13, 1955], No. 20300/55. Class 75(1) In an oil burner for a furnace having a wall 22 of considerable thickness the nozzle 10 to which oil is fed from an inlet 2 into a chamber 6 and thence through an adjustable needle valve 8 to be atomized by compressed primary air fed through a connection 4 and thruugh a narrow convergent clearance 12, is located outside the furnace, and the resultant suspension of oil droplets travels through the furnace wall along a single tube 14 in a duct 20, Fig. 3, through which secondary air to support combustion is delivered by a fan connected, e.g. at 24, the said suspension emerging into the furnace as a spray either through an orifice or a nozzle 16 at the inner end of the tube 14. For light oils the nozzle 16 is a further spray nozzle. For heavier oils a nozzle having three converging jet holes is used.
